Thinking about the current education system in your country, how satisfied are you with it, and what improvements do you suggest?
Published 62 responses on 20 Jun 2023
I live in Scotland and receive free tuition for up to 5 years of my university degree. I believe this is a really good concept and I am very satisfied with how things are. However I believe in secondary school, more time and resources should be spent on sexual education as it seems to have lessened over the years. I believe more time should also be spent teaching students about real life things such as tax as these are the important things everyone faces e laving school. However none of it is taught in school

This is what other community members thought:It’s definitely improved in the past few years, but there is still a way to go. People are more accepting of “bad mental health” but not so much “mental illness”. Symptoms are still stigmatised and taking medication can still be frowned upon in society and in media. To combat this there are a few things that could be done. More emphasis made on the fact that there’s no face to mental health struggles as it can affect us all. With sensitive issues it’s a similar dilemma, not wholly accepted but not wholly stigmatised. I worry dark humour is going too far though, it’s major issues can be brushed off because we’re so used to making everything into a joke, I get it I do that too, but occasionally it can help to have a serious conversation about these issues and handle them in a way that creates a meaningful conversation. Overall the media is leaning into a grey space, treating things as a joke might have serious implications in the long run.

I bought a keyboard and mouse wrist rest pad which I absolutely loved as it’s really good quality and it helps to keep my wrists supported when I work from home and type and use the mouse for 7 hours a day. Link: https://amzn.eu/d/asXPktC - I think that the rest is really good quality as it is made out of memory foam and it keeps its shape well even though I use it a lot. My hands and wrists used to hurt a lot before but now I feel no pain at all which I’m really happy about. I also love the colour of the rest and think it adds a nice contrast to my white desk and keyboard!

I think mental health in social media is important because it’s a modern society problem. I think this type of content should be focused on a lifestyle change in order to improve as a person or overcome an obstacle in your life. I believe social media nowadays is capable of motivate people with mental health issues in order to overcome obstacles in life and keep grinding.Social media can improve people’s life if it is used correctly but sometimes it is not.

I feel like most of the time people want to seem supportive of mental help and spread awareness, but they end up making false statements about it misinform their audience. I do think these matters should be spoken about openly, but there has to be valid research conducted before. Sometimes they say something in the news about loneliness and depression rising as a result of the pandemic (for example) but then on other sources I see a claim that is completely the opposite. In movies and tv shows the portrayal of these topics seems so dramatic and taken out of proportion that it makes me wonder if these people know what they talk about ot is it just over exaggerated for views. I find it very hard to trust the picture entertainment media gives about mental health.

Sports can have a significant impact on communities in several ways:1. Social Cohesion: Sports bring people together, fostering a sense of belonging, unity, and community pride. Whether it's attending games, cheering for local teams, or participating in sports leagues, communities often rally around their teams, creating a shared identity and camaraderie.2. Health and Fitness: Sports promote physical activity and overall well-being. Participation in sports encourages an active lifestyle, improving physical health and reducing the risk of various health conditions. Communities that prioritize and support sports often have healthier populations.3. Economic Boost: Sports events, tournaments, and stadiums can generate significant economic benefits for communities. They attract visitors from outside the area, who spend money on tickets, accommodations, dining, and shopping, stimulating local businesses and creating job opportunities.

Last month, I bought two new hats to my collection because I love so much to wear hats to the street. Also, I need to renew my old hats, especially my white hat, who it is some little broken for the last try to remove the dirty things to it. Also, the two new hats were very cheap and more according to wear to the summer season. For now, is the most interesting thing that I bought during the last month. Aside of this, I didn't buy something more interesting.

I purchased a new Marc jacobs large tote bag in the beige colour which I have used for my recent holiday to Greece and it has been the most useful bag for the flight and also an amazing beach bag. Adding a bit of style rather than a traditional beach bag. I have received many complements on it and I ordered this colour as I already had a few different colours of the tote in the smaller sizes and needed a replacement for my large tote. The bag itself carries a lot and has a useful zipper that I’ve found other totes don’t have and the price is great!

I bought an air fryer because I’ve always wanted one and after seeing it on sale on Amazon I killed the gun and bought it. So far I have absolutely loved it because it allows me to make healthy quick meals and all my meats have been extremely juicy and tender and cook in half the amount of time as the oven. What’s revolutionary is that I have been using so much less oils when cooking. Overall this purchase has allowed me to reduce my overall unhealthy saturated fat intake and also complemented my gym and fitness routine.

I bought some great trainers from Nike and Adidas this month! I bought Nike Panda Dunks and Adidas Ozweegos. i have been meaning to buy these trainers for some time now but there are always other more important things to buy. I love them as they are super comfy and help ease some of my foot and leg pain i have recently been having. The quality of Nike and Adidas is unmatched and only buy trainers from them! The delivery was very quick, arriving only 2-3 days after the order was placed meaning I could also wear them to an event I was going to. I have small feet so to be able to buy from the junior section is a blessing!

Sports have a significant impact on communities, fostering social cohesion, promoting physical and mental well-being, and inspiring individuals of all ages. They bring people together, transcending barriers of age, gender, race, and socioeconomic status. Sports encourage teamwork, discipline, and fair play, imparting valuable life skills to participants. They provide a platform for community members to gather, support their local teams, and build a sense of pride and identity. Sports events also stimulate local economies by attracting visitors, generating revenue, and creating job opportunities. Ultimately, sports play a vital role in strengthening communities and enhancing the overall quality of life.

I bought a t-shirt of one of the music groups I like (TXT). It's fan made and not an official shirt but the design is great and so is the quality. It's minimalistic, with their logo on the front and a crossword of their names on the back. The colors are nice and go well together. The shirt is heather peach and the text is yellow and light blue. The size fits perfectly too. I like simple designs that are still easily recognizable. Everybody who knows this group can immediately notice it. I even got a compliment once in public. The price was also very reasonable at $22.20 including shipping after a 35% off sale. It was a great purchase.https://www.etsy.com/listing/1468818923/txt-tshirt-tomorrow-x-together-shirt?ref=yr_purchases&variation0=3462435323&variation1=3462435321

I’ve watched a lot of shows where mental health was discussed. Sadly, it’s rare that it’s done well. Mostly it’s „there is sad girl/guy and the they meet the love of their life and they’re happy again“.Especially depression is portrayed really unrealistic and is often romanticized, as said before. Depression is all about sadness. They don’t show how it really affects someone’s life (e.g. not being able to take care of showering, brushing teeth, cooking, going to work etc). Disorders such as autism meet certain stereotypes and are often portrayed in a similar way, but never realistically. It’s obvious that most tv shows and movies aren’t produced together with people who are affected.

I bought a 2 Meter USB C cable, I love it because a 2 meter USB-C cable is great to charge your device from a distance. It also provides faster charging and data transfer speeds than USB-A cables. USB-C cables are also reversible, which means you can plug them in either way without worrying about orientation. Some USB-C cables also support Thunderbolt 3, which provides even faster data transfer speeds of up to 40Gbps. This particular cable does both high data rates and charging so it's very versatile.

I’m positive settled about artificial intelligence I’m a believer it will revolutionary more as it already perform actually cause I’m a mechanic person on my nine to five it ain’t influence my category of job , but recently I jumped into script writing for my podcast and YouTube channel therefore it is surprisingly supportive for research based on my topics and adjust the textures according to myself interpretation so I’m excited how far it will come as well as to try out more things like avatar or voice creation

I appreciate science and am looking forward to how AI can help us in the future in regards to making tasks easier. At the same time- I do question the overall approach to the inclusion of AI/automation tools in the workplace, as I womder if it will lead to a decrease in human task-handling. I don’t see a ceiling for just how much AI can help us, and I also worry about that. When is enough enough? I think that scientists will need to implement some type of validation tool that allows us to differentiate between AI based solutions and human created solutions

It is very useful in everyday lives but im scared of the future of creative jobs like in graphism or music producing. There will be some issues of property too, like it’s possible to put Tupac in a featuring song with anybody for example. Thus there are some great points in favor of artificial intelligence. We have answers to any sentences even faster than when we browse on internet. We just need to improve it to respect property of artists works of arts.

I believe that sports have a positive impact in general. Thanks to sports, people now have an interactive way to workout in company, for example in team sports. But this not only covers the physical aspect, but also the mental aspect of people. Sports have been proven to enhance and improve mental health since it can make them be happier or distract them from their problems. Sports also have made people be more cooperative and have made them learn to accept help from others, but sports can be for only one person, which is not necessary bad because, apart from the reasons stated above, it can relax you and make people learn that they do not need to be accompanied at all times

I bought a dress for my university graduation. I love it because it fits me perfectly and the colour is exactly what I envisioned. Finding a dress was stressful so it was such a relief. It feels like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. It is a satin maxi dress with an off the shoulder design on one arm. I chose a maxi dress because I am tall so mini dresses tend to be too short on me. I chose a golden colour because that was the colour of my prom dress so it’s almost like a continuation of a theme.

I do think that vocational education should be more taught in schools as a result of if being more useful when we are older. Having work based education is important for careers and what we should know for life. I am satisfied with certain aspects of the curriculum but I do feel that the exam system could be altered to be more inclusive such as learning British sign language or other languages that are not European. I do feel like we should be able to do other aspects to do with future life.

I believe that sport creates links within communities and also between communities. Sport can bring us values and teach us to follow the rules. These two points are fundamental to live in the society and with other communities. Sport also brings people together. At major events, people come together to support they country they love. And that’s how strangers can spend an evening together, while watching sport. But unfortunately, sport also creates tensions between people, between different supporters. We can say that sport has a major impact on social society, whether positive or negative.

Its really helpful for me as I am a social media manager I use it a lot in my work. For example Chatgpt helps me a lot in my work makes my work easier and actually not just work but also my daily life. I'm happy that AI improves so fast and I dont see it as a danger but in the contrary as an advantage. Additionally, I believe that AI can also be creative and make new things out of a thousand things that already exists. however, it is still something unique so I believe that AI can be beneficial for the creative sector as well as AI can create great work that is most of the time better than work of certain people.

I already think that sport allows you to live in a community, it allows you to create links and friendships for the future. Games, for example, which require team play, help to create this. It also helps you grow up and get a different perspective on life. Sport also brings people together, and when it comes to football, supporters come together and can create moments together, create powerful moments that will not soon be forgotten.

The UK education system has many strengths - it's focus on academic rigor, internationally recognized qualifications, and high quality universities. However, there are several areas of improvements that could be incorporated to make it a better experience for students. It's important to address educational inequality - there is a consistent achievement gap between students from minority ethnicities + those with disadvantaged backgrounds and their more affluent, majority race peers. I also think flexibility in curriculum is important, more assessment and exam reform would help evaluation of students' skills and knowledge, added teacher training and support (in light of the UCU strikes), integration of technology, and focus on well being and mental health support. Continued investment in infrastructure is also critical to ensure that schools have modern facilities. These are just a few suggestions; there may be other aspects that could be considered for improvement.

I really do feel like entertainment media sometimes publish things that make young people feel uncomfortable. However I don’t believe that’s their fault as people nowadays have become softer and more vulnerable than before and there’s a lot of research on that topic. Entertainment media very often is not so entertaining because of the “sensitive” topics that they depict in a way that many don’t understand. The reality is however very simple as to why they react that way

I am a student in the UK. The education system is generally satisfactory, however there is still room for improvement. For example, most of the lectures are structured in a way Rabat are not very engaging for student and are not designed for providing the knowledge needed for exams. Students are expected to do almost everything alone with not much provided by the study material. The tuition fee is pretty high and there should be more engagement from professors to provide more relevant information for exams. Moreover, current strikes that lecturers are doing are affecting only the students, and there should be improvement of the internals system so that students don’t have to bear the consequences since we are paying for education and some lecturers are refusing to mark our works.

The education system definitely needs to be improved. I think the grading system needs to be completely reworked and or even replaced with a slightly more subjective grading system. The national curriculum should be changed as well and by that, I mean the curriculum should be varied. Education surrounding cultures and different histories should be taught as well and so should topics such as intersectional feminism and gender theory. Sensitive subjects such as sexual abuse should be handled with care when teaching things like consent and boundaries in the context of sex to younger audiences (anyone under the age of 14).

I think there has to be more emphasis on alternative studies rather than the traditional ones. We are only taught history in a certain context. I think it would be great to learn the history about multicultural students in the classroom. As well as British history the good and the bad. The exam systems are in place for certain students to flourish. I think there should be alternatives to exams and coursework. Looking more deeply at the individual students and have their best interests at heart. I also think as we become more technologically advanced. There has to be safe guarding for students dealing with issues currently. So cyber bullying, peer pressure and prejudice.

My movie ticket that got me to see Spider-Man Across the Spiderverse, because it's for me à life altering movie, and I think one of the best movies I've ever seen in my life, I saw it with very good friends and it was an absolutely good moment, Sony Pictures Animation did a really good work and Metro Boomin's for the OST too. Nevertheless, I was a little hesitant about this choice with the game The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom that I bought on day one but that I still haven't finished so can't really say if it's a good buy for the moment (even if I've already passed 50 hrs on it...)

I am somewhat satisfied with the system in my country. I do think it relies heavily on memory rather than understanding and applying some basic knowledge.Instead of encouraging students to understand and apply fundamental concepts, the system often rewards those who can memorize information without truly comprehending its significance. The system also relies on taking too many tests, which could be solved by adding projects to do over the course, even if they are harder, which would result in acquiring deeper understanding of the subject. For example, in the courses I took at uni where I had to do a project I ended up learning and remembering more than those where I only took an exam.

I think the portrayal puts itself in the extremes of how mental health really is. It only portrays things like suicide or just being sad but doesn’t really explore what the impacts of such things are. It doesn’t talk about how people can deal with it in everyday life and talk about resources to cope with mental health crises. It doesn’t portray men as having mental health issues and lends itself more to women having these issues as if men don’t have the same issues. It also doesn’t portray issues like adhd and autism which has made it difficult to identify as an adult. If it is portrayed, then it labels it as the little boys disease, and not about how it is actually down to dopamine levels and how it can lead to many other issues. I think this should be further examined and different factors and themes should be included in media.

I think that the education system does not really focus on practice, the main focus is on theory or e.g. - subjects in school that will never be of any use. Children need to develop their skills, not to try and learn something by heart that will be forgotten in few months. What will make us successful is to develop our strengths and soft skills. When it comes to college/university, however, depending on what kind of area you are studying and which one is the institution, you might learn a lot of things that will be practical and useful for the profession, but speaking of degrees for example in the field of business administration/economics, again the focus is to learn the theory with the exams and essays, not to work on real life projects that are part of the profession.

First of all I think sports is a way of connecting and spending time with other people. Children go play football, they go play tennis, they go to swim. All of those are extremly important for the childrens social life and thus also for the community in total. They meet new peopl, they make new friends and can afterwards spend time with them at their places etc. . But also Sports is a way of putting people together that share the same interest. By doing the same sport as somebody else you immediately have a connection that you can build on.

I am most unsatisfied with gun laws regarding conceal and carry laws. It’s ridiculous that people can just walk into a school and shoot entire crowds of students dead. At the very least there could be metal detectors and investigations of people/students who carry weapons. I’m satisfied with the fact that they have advanced placement classes for students who are willing to take higher level classes and further their education more than the average student. Programs like that are important to me and many others.

I think sports play a very strong and important role in communities, specially those on the poorer side because it keeps the mind occupied in doing something productive and good since sport it's beneficial for one's health. However, practicing sports is good but watching and supporting a team is something else. It can be a nice hobbie as well for those communities to encourage them to practice sports. But often seen in football fandoms people can go crazy and even comit crimes against the other teams etc.

I bought some new trainers after not buying any for a long time. I had been looking for a new pair for quite a while now but I just couldn’t find a pair that I absolutely loved and thought was worth it, especially now that trainers are becoming more and more expensive and some are really hard to get your hands on. I absolutely love them as not only are they stylish but they’re also confortable. They are also quite neutral colours so they go with a lot of different types of clothing and I can’t wait to style them even more.

Artificial intelligence has been an honestly useful tool as a student and even in my day-to-day life. More than just a fun tool, which it is when you use other apps that are solely ChatPTG; the ones that turn your face into a picture or create images for you based on what you describe, AI offers entertainment. And as a student I have found that ChatPTG fails much more than we think, which has also given me confidence in my future job entry. But it has also been useful as a tool to ask very clear questions (with a very detailed description) to help guide assignments, research..... It is a tool to look for inspiration.

For me, education is really important. Training offers many personal and professional opportunities. I think that the education system in France needs to change several things.First, knowledge of foreign languages is essential today, so why not learn them from kindergarten. Second, I think it is imperative that every student receive financial education. For me, the school has to find a balance between learning current subjects and learning essential notions in everyday life

If used correctly i think it can be very useful in many aspects of someone’s life. It can helpimprove creativity and or inspire people if they are struggling with what they are working on. Since it’s very knowledgeable it can help give ideas on what you want to do whether it’s to write a script or create photos for you. There can be downsides as it can lead to cheating in some aspects and not being entirely original. it can cause some people to become lazy and he silt reliant on AI so it does need to be monitored and moderated

I think sports bring people together. The feeling of being part of something, as a result of humans being social animals make us enjoy being in community, thus I believe sports bring up that sense of socialisation and community on us. Sports also make us to try to be better, and usually cheer up our teammates, which is a really nice thing. Therefore, I believe there’s no other activity that makes people be more united than playing a sport or being fan of a particular one

I think sports can have great impact, sports do not only make people healthier but can also help to cooperate better. Also, it can teach discipline and can help especially children to accept that you cannot always win. I played football throughout my youth and i still have friends from my former football team. It can build friendships for the rest of your life, which i think is a very positive impact. I saw that even in prisons people play sports together because it can increase social skills.

From primary school to secondary school I enjoyed school it may be due to the fact that I enjoyed having a day filled with something new and something scheduled for the hours of the day. But now I’m in university and feel as though I miss that structure of having more than what 1-2 lessons a day because i feel as though if the information I was meant to be taught was spread over many different sectors and people within those professions should give more limelight to that subject I would probably enjoy and actually do better in university. What I’m getting at is that the structure changes so drastically and I don’t think the ‘professionals’ take that into consideration.

I think that the artificial intelligence like the chat GPT is a very helpful but also a very dangerous tool to have. It’s amazing how you can ask any question you want and it will always give you the right answer. But it’s very bad for the young generations because now you don’t have to study to make most pf your exams or projects, you can just type in what you want and chat GPT will give it to you. But for me the automation in the everyday life is amazing. For example even the electronic keyswitch that i have is amazing because i can turn off my lamp from my phone without even moving.

I am very satisfied with the education system in my country because, unlike many others, it really prepares you for working life and teaches you everything from the most basic to the most complex. What I do miss is that they teach us in schools how to manage money or give us tips for entering adult life, for example I would like them to give us classes on how to manage money and learn about bills and taxes.

I bought black corduroy jeans from Forever 21, hyaluronic acid from INKEYList, hair oil, Dr. Brenner’s soap, lavender nail polish, two pairs or dress shoes, and a pair of lashes. I loved all these purchases because they all make my life easier. Most of these purchases were made because of a sale at the time so I loved the price and I loved how these items and products enhance my overall look when o go out in public. My favorite purchase was the two pairs of shoes because they go with most every outfit and can be used when I go back to school.

I feel that most times mental health portrayed in entertainment are somewhat real. Like dealing with past traumas and the pressure of society, in most terms are depicted almost accurately. Since the world is progressing, the portrayal of sensitive topics in media has to conform the societal norms. Although, I feel like topics such as taking one's own life are mostly glossed over in entertainment. Like you see the main character grieving, which is normal and accurate, but oftenly, if the one who took their life is not an important character they are just glossed over so that the story can progress. Taking one's own life is not a topic people should gloss over, hence the portrayal of sensitive topics might just be exaggerated.

This last month I have not done a lot of shopping but among them there have been purchases of clothes, technological objects and household items. The purchase I use the most and like the most is a pair of wireless headphones from Sony. They are the WF-C700N which are small wireless noise cancelling headphones. Each earphone has a button with different functions such as cancelling outside noise, skip the song, stop the song... You can buy them online and there are different colours to choose from, I have blue/lilac ones.

Personally I think that the introduction of AI and automation in our lives is extremely positive. We will be more efficient and evolve faster as a society. In terms of daily life it is helping me to be more practical and specially to learn or get a quick answer of themes that I am not into. Also, these technologies give me a rush and make my believe that we have and incredible future if we start to manage them and only use them in a responsible and ethic way. To sum up I would say that a great power comes with a great reponsibility and I think that we should take it.

In the last month, I bought a tattoo for myself, and I love it. It is a spaceship abducting a cow, and it really matches my vibe. I like outer space themed things, so this tattoo is perfect for me. I also just bought a new tunnel for my rabbit to play in. He loves it, therefore I love it. He likes to run through it at top speeds, or just sit in it. It’s perfect for when he gets the zoomies. It also has a dangly puff ball thing that hangs from the roof of it that he likes to play with. He might end up chewing it off, but that’s okay, since the tunnel is for him to have fun with.

Mental health portrayed within the entertainment media industry can be both beneficial and informative, but simultaneously can be triggering and inappropriate. My view therefore is that the media industry should strive to create and share stories that feature and centre on mental health but should do so in a transparent and sensitive manner. Overall the use of these topics for entertainment can create wider discussions in society which benefit the education and openness on taboo subjects. Dealing with other sensitive topics like substance addiction and death can be emotional and hard to get right, but is nonetheless necessary for the preservation of a media industry that strives to reflect the society of the day.

I am satisfied with the education system in the country as it covers a lot of different subjects and gives a lot of knowledge. I think it is unfortunate there is a lot of focus on exams however I am not sure how else things would be done as there is a need to test peoples abilities. I think the new number system for GCSEs is confusing, I prefer the standard letter grades but it isn't a big deal. I think there should be more focus on life skills as in school they didn't really teach us much about that.

More often than not, it comes off as performative. I appreciate that as times and people have changed- we’ve inched towards progressiveness. But I find that the selection of messengers when it comes to these topics tends to be tone-deaf or an obvious last minute pick. Sensitive topics are hard to navigate and curate in a way that is safe for the entertainment brand and actually genuinw to the public. There is also the disconnect that happens when brands put out content completely contradicting statements/topics issued earlier.

I fell as though the portrayal of mental health and sensitive topics in entertainment media is definitely not good enough. It is not even that it is not good enough, rather it is that it is not even portrayed much in entertainment and media. However some shows do show it quite well but this job could be done better. Perhaps it is due to stigma and does not really provide “enters “ to the mass public. Therefore I would say that the oportrayl is not good enough
